A sandwich of fear and fun and fear... Dericious

Waking up from my slumber of the morning, I was greeted by an email of ginormous fear and shock. My boss had sent me an email asking me about details regarding the application that I was working on, this was an assignment that was passed down to me, since my co-worker left for summer. My boss found the structure of the application to be very strange and confusing. Most of these problems were already there when I first received this assignment, but I did not realize that it was such a big deal, as the code still worked. I explained myself about why things were the way they were in the application. He responded thanks for the explanation and then I continued on with my day. But a whim of fear still lingered inside, despite my boss saying thanks for the information that I replied with.

I soon arrived at my destination for the day... the Student Activities Center's Graduater Writing Center. There, I met an interesting bunch of people that were all helping to prepare folders (all of which are also volunteers, like me). I joined in on the fun, and within 30 minutes, finished the rest of their folders. Apparently, 1300 folders were prepared today, and all of them are to be organized and packed with important forms for the new graduate students. After the folders were finished, we proceeded to putting together the paper forms.

Initially, the head organizer for the paper packing, Hironoa, lifted out a folder with neatly packed papers in it. We were amazed at the colorful and organized manner of the folder. However, he soon turned and pointed to the side of the room, where many large boxes lay scattered across the room. Inside these boxes were copies of those forms that he presented to us from that neatly packed folder. There were a LOT of boxes... Placing them in stacks, we made a system where we would go from one end of the table to the other and the last person on the table would put the packed papers together into the folder. Following this machine-like organization, we managed to do about 600 of the folders by the end of the day.

HOWEVER! Near the completion of 300 folders, a NEW box was delivered into the room... informing us that we would need to place these into the back of the folders... I was obviously not happy... nor was everyone else that was helping.

Not long, it came time for the student orientation meeting that occured at 6 pm. There was supposed to be food served at this meeting... which it did... but it was PIZZA! The LEGENDARY ARCH-ENEMY OF ALASTOR!!! I am lactose intolerant... so I did not consider this... FOOD... Although I could not have the pizza, I did get a nice staff t-shirt. Originally, I was going for a large, but it was HUMONGOUS! Then, I looked at a medium... and it still looked large. So, I settled with a small. Oddly enough as it sounds, thanks to the weight I lost this summer, and the building up of muscles in my upper body, the small t-shirt fitted perfectly. Not only did I lose enough weight to fit a small, but this small t-shirt allowed me to display my slender form and curves quite nicely. I was quite impressed at how nicely it looked on me :)

I soon met up with two friends of mine that are also helping out with the graduate student orientation. One will be participating in paper packing and in early/late volunteering for stalls. The other will be doing tours with me. When the person in charge of the tours spoke about our duties and such, many funny conversations happened between me and my friend. We decided to call each other Tiger and Dragon during the tours, since we are both Chinese. We would be leading separate tours in the morning, so it would be wonderful if we could some how make the tours interactive with one another by calling each other that when our tours cross each other :) It was lots of fun and giggles during the meeting. :) I was quite amused and happy.

When I got home, I realized that I did not pay for my credit card. So, I made an online transfer, only to find that bank of america has their website located in Eastern Time! MEANING THAT MY PAYMENT MIGHT BE LATE!!!! Freaking out as you can see from my capitalized sentence, I went to my brother seeking help from the perilous danger that may lay ahead for my credit. I ended up calling Bank of America's Credit Card Customer Service and explained my situation, telling them that I made the payment but did not realize that it takes 2 days for the online bill transfer to be completed. After hearing my explanation, Matthew, my customer service representative checked the date of the online transfer and found that it was marked for the 14th. Seeing that my online transfer was made on the day of the due date, Matthew told me that he will waive the late charge fee. That settled the problem with my credit card payment, however... does it impact my credit?

Today was filled with fear, bliss, and more fear. I am unsure if I can say today was a good day or a bad day. All I know... is I am exhausted... and I want a cookie...
